A national restaurant chain known for its burgers, chicken tenders and more opened the doors on a new Columbia location on Monday.

Checkers, which has hundreds of restaurants across the U.S., has opened a new spot at 7373 Two Notch Road in Columbia. That’s south of the interchange between Two Notch and Interstate 20, next door to a Harbor Inn seafood restaurant and not far from a Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse.

Checkers’ website for the Two Notch location notes it is now open, and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon-cutting for the restaurant Monday. The burger joint is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, per the Checkers website.

This is the first of two Checkers restaurants slated for Columbia. The second one is under construction at 901 Bush River Road. That’s just east of Interstate 26 and less than a mile west of the Dutch Square Center mall. That will be on the site where an H. Rubin Vision Center was formerly located.

The Atlanta-based Falcons Group is developing the two Columbia Checkers. Falcons Group operates Checkers (and its associated brand Rally’s) restaurants in a number of states, per its website.

The Checkers menu includes a host of burgers, as well as hot dogs, fries, chicken tenders, fish sandwiches, slushies and more. Among its burgers is the famed Smoky BBQ Bacon Buford, which features “two 100% beef hand-seasoned patties topped with Swiss cheese, two slices of smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, sweet & smoky BBQ sauce, mayo and even more bits of real chopped up bacon.”
