A Columbia Hooters restaurant has closed as the company announced plans to shutter a number of its locations.

The Hooters location at 7711 Two Notch Road in Columbia, just west of Interstate 77, is closed for good, according to a phone message at the restaurant.

“Thank you for calling; this Hooters location is permanently closed,” the message at the Two Notch restaurant said when a reporter called Monday evening. A Google listing for the Two Notch Road Hooters notes it as “permanently closed,” and the restaurant no longer appears on Hooters’ website.

The Hooters at 5195 Fernandina Road in Columbia remains open.

Known for, among other things, its chicken wings, Hooters recently announced that it was going to close a number of stores amid a challenging market, according to a Monday story from CNN.

“Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores,” a company spokesperson said in the piece from CNN.

There remain about 300 Hooters locations across the world.
