Lexington County is alerting residents to be ready for smoky conditions.

“Earlier this morning there was a structure fire that extended into a woods fire,” the county posted to social media Friday. “Due to the now contained burn there will be smoke in the area for the majority of the day and night.”

The increased smoke will be centered on the intersection of Edmund Highway and Bluff Ridge Road near South Congaree, the county said, though it didn’t specify where the fire took place.

The county reports that the fire remains under investigation.
