Lexington man found stabbed to death at his home Saturday. Here’s what we know

A Lexington man was found dead in his home on Oak Ridge Lane in Lexington County on Saturday, July 20, according to a news release from the coroner’s office .

Caldwell Melton Motley Jr., 38, died due to multiple stab wounds, according to the release.

Another person at the house was taken to a local trauma center with critical injuries, according to the release. His medical team said he should recover, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities were called about a fire because black smoke was coming out the roof of the house, according to the incident report from the sheriff’s office. They found the deceased and notified EMS about the injured victim.

The sheriff’s department said it would not release specifics of the ongoing investigation.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, the State Law Enforcement’s arson team and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
