A patient was wounded in an officer involved shooting Friday morning at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting that took place in the hospital’s emergency department.

No employees were harmed. The patient sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the hospital said in a news release, directing all other questions to SLED.

Which police department involved in the shooting was not immediately available.

SLED confirmed the investigation is ongoing, but could not release further details.
