Authorities are investigating after a person was shot over the weekend at an apartment complex near a popular Columbia area shopping district.

Officers responded Saturday to the Harbison Gardens Apartments at 401 Columbiana Drive. That’s about a mile northwest of the Columbiana Centre mall and the larger Harbison shopping district.

When they got there, officers found a male who had been shot multiple times, according to Columbia Police Department Deputy Chief Melron Kelly. The victim, whose age were not disclosed, was taken to Prisma Health Richland, Kelly said. He was in stable condition as of Sunday night.

Authorities were working to determine whether the shots came from a person who was on foot or in a car, Kelly said. The deputy chief added that there are cameras throughout the complex that will be reviewed.

The Harbison Gardens apartments are on Columbiana Drive, between Harbison Boluevard to the south and Lake Murray Boulevard to the north. A host of businesses are nearby, including a row of restaurants that are across the street.
