Those of you in the Midlands craving Whataburger won’t have far to go soon.

A restaurant at 185 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo will open at 11 a.m. Sept. 9.

The company is still finalizing plans for opening day, Miranda Grubbs, Whataburger’s senior public relations specialist, said Thursday.

Typically, the first few people in line get free Whataburger for a year and the next few hundred get gift packs. The company usually sets up activities in the parking lot as well.

It will be the fourth South Carolina location for the national chain. It is not associated with the locally owned What-A-Burger.

Whataburger opened this week in Mauldin and in July in Boiling Springs and on Woodruff Road in Greenville.

The restaurant chain, founded in 1950, has more than 1,030 locations. Its entry into South Carolina marks 16 states, which the company is calling Sweet 16.

Whataburger intends to open six more restaurants between now and fall.

Victor Trevino, public relations manager of Whataburger, confirmed the other South Carolina Whataburgers to open this year are:

● Late Summer 2024 2900 Main St., Anderson, 29621

● Fall 2024 202 Bridgeberry Lane, Columbia, 29203

● Fall 2024 1941 E Main St., Spartanburg, 29307

● Fall 2024 1510 W.O. Ezell Blvd., Spartanburg, 29301

● Fall 2024 888 S. Lake Drive, Lexington, 29072

● Late Fall 5648 Calhoun Memorial Parkway, Easley 29640
