Sewer overflow into Lorick Branch in Lexington County
A broken pipe in the city of Columbia’s wastewater management system has led to a sewer overflow into a tributary of the Lorick Branch, a creek flowing from Irmo to the Saluda River.
The break in the mainline of the sewer collection system occurred at 6671 St. Andrews Road just before noon on Tuesday. Crews are working to repair the break, and wash the storm drain, the wastewater maintenance division said in a news release.
Customer water service should not be affected by a sewer overflow.
