South Carolina health inspectors found multiple violations at restaurants in the Midlands in August, from roaches and flies in the area where dishes are kept to shelving covered in sticky residue. The state each month releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Midlands counties.
Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in August.
Panda Garden at 18991 Atomic Road in Aiken
Panda Garden had an inspection on Aug. 23 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed an employee change tasks without washing hands and another employee coughing in hand and not washing before starting an order.
Cooked chicken was seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Gaps were seen in the dry storage building that were big enough for rodents and insects to enter.
A required followup inspection has not yet been held.
Carolina Ale House at 277 Columbiana Circle in Lexington
Carolina Ale House had an inspection on Aug. 1 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed flies throughout the facility.
Dirty dishes with sticker residue were seen stored as clean. Microbial growth was seen on the inside roof of the ice machine and in the chute. Certain foods were seen to kept at proper holding temperatures.
Food splash was seen on the walls in the facility.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Aug. 9 and got an A grade.
Country Club of Lexington at 1066 Barr Road in Lexington
Country Club of Lexington had an inspection on Aug. 16 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed fruit flies and other flies throughout the facility, including on food contact surfaces. Also observed were staff members without proper hair restraint to prevent contact with exposed food and equipment.
Employee drinks were seen stored on the line above the food prep area, including some with fuzzy growth in them. A staff member was seen not washing hands in between handling raw foods and ready-to-eat foods. Serving staff were seen working with open food with extended and painted nails. Grease and food debris buildup were seen on non-food contact surfaces.
The country club had a required followup inspection on Aug. 23 and got an A grade.
Jet Fuels at 3835 Charleston Highway in Lexington
Jet Fuels had an inspection on Aug. 5 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed flies throughout the facility.
Milk was seen stored with raw chicken product in the cooler. Dishes with food debris and sticker residue were seen stored as clean. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Boxes of food product were seen stored on the floor of the walk-in cooler.
Jet Fuels had a required followup inspection on Aug. 15 and got an A grade.
Luce Italian Restaurant at 1812 Augusta Hwy in Lexington
Luce Italian Restaurant had an inspection on Aug. 12 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed several pests throughout the facility. Also observed cloth stored in water with lettuce in the cooler.
Cooking and storage equipment was seen covered in grease and food debris. Both kitchen hand sinks were seen blocked and not easily accessible. A pan collecting water was seen in the reach in cooler above prepared food. Fuzzy growth was seen on a pan stored in the reach-in cooler.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Aug. 27 and got an A grade.
Reggae Grill at 901 B Holland Ave. in Lexington
Reggae Grill had an inspection on Aug. 23 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed roaches and fruit flies in the dish area. Also observed was raw oxtails being prepped in a sink beside two sections filled with dirty dishes.
Food debris and grime were seen on equipment and shelving throughout the facility. Dishes with food and grime were seen stored as clean. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.
A required followup inspection has not yet been held.
Tokyo Grill at Old Chapin Road in Lexington
Tokyo Grill had an inspection on Aug. 22 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed fly catching strips covered in flies above equipment in the back storage room.
Repackaged raw shrimp was seen stored with vegetable spring rolls in the chest freezer. Also observed utensils and equipment not being sanitized after being washed in the sink.

Arirang Korean Restaurant at 1943 Decker Blvd. in Richland
Arirang Korean Restaurant had an inspection on Aug. 27 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed employees not washing hands after changing tasks. Repackaged raw chicken was seen stored with repackaged raw fish over ready to eat foods. Containers with residue on them were seen stored as clean. Kitchenware was seen stored in the women’s bathroom.

Eggs Up Grill at 1180 Dutch Fork Road in Richland
Eggs Up Grill had an inspection on Aug. 1 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed flies throughout the facility. Also observed was condensation dripping directly on exposed food in the walk-in cooler.
Cantaloupe was seen softening and changing color in a bulk produce case. Fresh meat was seen layered over expired meat for display. Employees were seen moving from handling raw product to prepared foods without washing hands and changing gloves.
Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Service staff were seen with inadequate hair restraint.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Aug. 7 and got an A grade.
Liberty at the Lake at 1602 Marina Road in Richland
Liberty at the Lake had an inspection on Aug. 20 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed flies throughout the facility. Also observed were sticky shelving on the cook’s line.
Ponding and puddling water was seen throughout the kitchen. Equipment throughout the kitchen were seen covered in food debris. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Black growth was seen on the edges of the ice basin.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Aug. 22 and got an A grade.
Paris Bánh MI at 3071 Longtown Commons Dr. in Richland
Paris Bánh MI had an inspection on Aug. 16 and got a C grade.
