Two people were killed early Tuesday morning in a car crash in Orangeburg County.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said in a release the crash happened at about 1:10 a.m. Tuesday on state Highway 4, also known as the Neeses Highway. It was a one-car collision, the trooper said.

A 2016 Dodge Charger was traveling east on Highway 4 when it went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, the Highway Patrol said. Both occupants of the vehicle — the driver and a passenger — died in the incident.

The names of the deceased have not been publicly released as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident, Bolt said.
