Midlands country festival postponed to 2025 by hurricane will keep superstar headliner
The first-ever Field & Stream Music Festival was among the events that got wiped off the Carolinas’ calendar when Hurricane Helene rolled through the area earlier this fall.
The country-leaning outdoor festival’s inaugural outing scheduled for early October was set to be a massive boost for rural Fairfield County, which sits along Interstate 77 just shy of an hour away from Columbia and just more than an hour outside of Charlotte. The lineup featured big-time country acts like Eric Church, Lainey Wilson, ZZ Top, Shaboozey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Riley Green and Bailey Zimmerman.
Good news has followed since the cancellation, however. Less than two weeks after its initial weekend passed, the festival announced that it would try again on Oct. 3-5 next year. And when The State caught up recently with Bob Durkin of festival producer Southern Entertainment, he revealed that Church, one of North Carolina’s favorite country-singing sons, will again be on the lineup.
“Most of the lineup, we definitely expect to come back, and it will be as stellar or better than the existing lineup, I think,” Durkin said. “We’ll be able to announce it soon.”
Beyond his Carolina bonafides, Church is a pretty perfect anchor for the festival.
For one thing, he and fellow country superstar Morgan Wallen own the eponymous outdoors magazine that puts on the festival, having purchased the more-than-century-old product earlier this year.
For another, he’s a massive star, having notched 11 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart — “Some of It,” “Hell of a View,” “Record Year,” “Drink in My Hand,” “Springsteen,” “Talladega,” “Give Me Back My Hometown,” “Does to Me” (with Luke Combs), “The Only Way I Know” (with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan), “Raise ‘Em Up” (with Keith Urban) and “Man Made a Bar” (with Wallen).
The Field & Stream fest is set to take place at Carolina Adventure World, near Winnsboro and Lake Wateree. 2025 tickets aren’t yet on sale. 2024 ticket options included one-, two- and three-day options for both general and VIP admission.
Camping options were also available, as were shuttles from Rock Hill and Columbia. Durkin said they’re exploring adding more shuttle options for 2025.
