One person is dead after a crash on an interstate in Columbia.

SC Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett said the one-car wreck happened at 11:17 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 on Interstate 20 near the intersection with SC 277.

Bennett said a 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling south on SC 277 when it ran off the road to the left, went across all three west bound lanes of I-20 and crashed into a median barrier.

There were four occupants in the car, the Highway Patrol said. One of the passengers died on the scene. The driver and another passenger were taken to Prisma Health for treatment, and another passenger was uninjured.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office had not announced the name of the deceased as of Thursday morning.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
