One dead and two hospitalized after weekend pickup truck collision in Midlands

A collision between pickup trucks left one dead and two hospitalized near Columbia SC Sunday.

One person is dead and two people have been hospitalized after two pickup trucks collided Sunday evening, just outside of Columbia.

A 2021 Toyota pickup was traveling north on McCords Ferry Road, while a 2003 Ford pickup was traveling south. The Toyota struck the Ford at an intersection, sending the Ford off the road and into an embankment, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Ford pickup died at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released by the Richland County coroner’s office. The driver and passenger of the Toyota pickup were taken to an area hospital for their injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not provide any further information about the incident.
