The Columbia-Richland Fire Department responded to a large fire on the 2200 block of North Main, where developers plan to turn the site of the former Jim Moore Cadillac dealership into new luxury apartments.

Fire crews responded to a “huge” 2-alarm fire just after 5:30 a.m. Monday.

“A vacant commercial property had a large amount of fire going on two floors of the building,” according to the department.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the fire department reported that the blaze had been contained. No one was injured in the incident.

Earlier Monday, local coffee shop Curiosity Coffee shared a video of several emergency vehicles blocking North Main Street, with smoke rising from what appeared to be the site of the former Jim Moore Cadillac site.
