Residents in Lexington may experience a drop in water pressure after a major water line break, the town warned residents Wednesday.

A 12-inch water main break on Corley Mill Road is affecting customers in the surrounding area, but the water remains safe to drink, Lexington said in a news release.

Customers on or near Corley Mill Road, Hope Ferry Road, Mill Stream Road and Sunset Boulevard may experience a drop in water pressure, the town said. The utilities department is working to restore the break.

“If customers are experiencing air in their lines, discoloration, white or cloudy water, they should flush their internal plumbing by letting the faucet run until the issue is resolved,” the release said.
