A restaurant in a trendy shopping area near Columbia has closed its doors. What we know
A restaurant in one of the Midlands’ trendiest shopping areas has closed.
Verde, which was known for offering a variety of specialty salads, has closed the location at 4840 Forest Drive in Forest Acres’ Trenholm Plaza. There was a sign on the door announcing the closure when a reporter went by on Thursday.
“Thank you for an amazing 5 years, Columbia,” the sign read. “Our last day of service at this location will be Sunday, December 15.”
The Trenholm Plaza location no longer appears on the Verde website. The company still has a host of stores in the Lowcountry, including in Mount Pleasant and across the Charleston area.
The Verde location in Forest Acres was announced in 2019 and opened in 2020. The company specializes in salads, including build-your-own options in which customers can select all of their ingredients. It also offers signature salads, including the Carolina Cobb, which comes with romaine, baby spinach, roasted turkey, hard boiled egg, avocado, grape tomatoes, bleu cheese, and bacon, with agave mustard dressing.
Trenholm Plaza is a popular shopping center in Forest Acres, featuring a Publix, a Fresh Market, a Tazza Kitchen restaurant, a Chicken Salad Chick location, a J. Crew Factory store and much more. About 28,000 cars per day travel down nearby Forest Drive, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
