Sunset Boulevard in Lexington is a high-traffic corridor that is often packed with cars. Now there’s a new place on the way where those cars can get serviced.

Valvoline, which has locations in the Midlands and across the U.S., is planning a new oil change business at 5362 Sunset Blvd., according to town of Lexington planning and zoning paperwork. Commercial real estate firm DeWees also noted the coming Valvoline in a recent Facebook post, as it represented the seller in the sale of the property.

The property where the Valvoline is going was formerly home to a Little Caesars takeout pizza restaurant. The white building that previously was on the property had been demolished when a reporter rode by Monday morning, and town of Lexington documents note construction is underway for the oil change business.

There are nearly 2,000 Valvoline locations across the U.S., according to the company’s website. Other locations in the Midlands include one at 8200 Two Notch Road in Columbia and 454 Killian Road in northeast Columbia. Valvoline also opened a spot at 165 Columbiana Drive, in the Harbison retail district, in 2023.

The stretch of Sunset Boulevard where the Valvoline will open is a busy commercial thoroughfare. A Mellow Mushroom restaurant is next door, and nearby national retailers include Lowe’s Home Improvement, Petco, TJ Maxx, Zaxby’s, Kohl’s and others. Nearly 41,000 cars per day travel down that section of Sunset, per state Department of Transportation data.
