‘Taco-bout’ it: There’s a new Mexican restaurant coming to this bustling Lexington area
A new restaurant where you can grab some Mexican favorites is coming to a busy road in Lexington County.
El Charro Express Mexican Restaurant will set up shop at 4350 Augusta Road. That’s near the intersection of Augusta Road and St. Davids Church Road, just east of the Barnyard flea market. The new El Charro will be in the storefront that formerly was home to New York Pizza and Pasta Factory.
This will mark the second El Charro location in the Midlands. The company also has a restaurant at 1100 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo.
“El Charro is happy to announce that we are branching out to the Lexington area soon,” the restaurant said in a recent post on Facebook. “Taco-bout starting the new year with a bang! Grand opening is around the corner and only a matter of time!”
The El Charro on Augusta Road also is listed among the commercial projects in the Lexington County Planning Commission’s Jan. 16 agenda paperwork. Roadside signage and colorful window displays have gone up at the Lexington location
The menu at El Charro’s Irmo location includes a solid list of Mexican cuisine, including quesabirria tacos, quesadillas, burritos, chimichangas and more.
The Augusta Road corridor remains a bustling thoroughfare that connects Lexington to West Columbia, lined with a number of commercial and retail businesses. About 30,000 cars per day travel down the stretch of Augusta Road near the El Charro site.
