Two people were arrested on drug trafficking charges after deputies said they got a tip from the community.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said in a Jan. 28 release that it had arrested Ansel Yameen Sparrow, 34, and Victoria Katherine Harley, 21, and charged each with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute meth, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Sparrow was additionally charged with possession of a weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes.

Sheriff’s department investigators went to an apartment complex in the 2100 block of North Lake Drive after a tip from the public, the release said.

“Investigators smelled marijuana coming from the apartment and were in the process of drafting a search warrant when Harley walked out of the apartment,” Sheriff Jay Koon said in the release. Sparrow was in the apartment at the time, the sheriff’s department said.

A search of the apartment turned up cocaine, meth, marijuana, a handgun and more than $9,000 in cash, the sheriff’s department said.

The suspects were arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. They later were released on bond.
