Columbia firefighters reported quickly putting out a fire Thursday night on First Street South. That’s just off Interstate 77 in south Columbia.

The fire occurred before 9 p.m. on the roof of a commercial facility, the Columbia-Richland Fire Department posted to social media. There were no internal damages to the building, and no one was injured.

Officials said an electrical issue caused part of the roof to catch fire.

“The first units arrived to find flames visible from the roof of the building,” the department posted.

“Crews got on the roof and put the fire out quickly. The fire did not get into the interior of the building and no one was injured.”
