It’s taco time: A new Mexican restaurant just debuted along this bustling Midlands road
A bustling road in Lexington County has added a new restaurant.
El Charro Express Mexican Restaurant officially opened its doors on March 3 at 4350 Augusta Road, as noted in social media posts from the restaurant. The new Mexican eatery is near the intersection of Augusta Road and St. Davids Church Road, just east of the Barnyard flea market.
El Charro is in the storefront that formerly was home to New York Pizza and Pasta Factory. Other nearby businesses include a McDonald’s, a Burger King, a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree combo and a host of convenience stores, among others.
This is the second El Charro restaurant in the Midlands. There also is a location at 1100 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo.
Users on the popular local Facebook group Columbia Foodies lauded El Charro Express on March 3, noting the “taqueria feel” at the new location and touting the food as “absolutely delicious.”
The menu at El Charro includes a solid list of Mexican cuisine, including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, nachos, enchiladas, and more.
The Augusta Road corridor remains a high-traffic thoroughfare that connects Lexington to West Columbia, and is lined with a number of commercial and retail businesses. About 30,000 cars per day travel down the stretch of Augusta Road near the new El Charro.
