A fire is being investigated after a home in Columbia was gutted, SC officials say
An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a South Carolina home Monday, according to the Columbia Fire Department.
The trailer home off of Dairy Street was called a total loss, fire department officials said in a news release. That’s near the intersection with Farrow Road, in the area between North Main Street and S.C. 277.
No one was injured, the fire department said.
At about 4:20 p.m., firefighters responded to the blaze, according to the release. While they were on the way to the trailer home, firefighters saw smoke in the air and called for a working fire dispatch, the fire department said.
When they arrived, crews saw fire and heavy smoke coming from the home, according to the release.
No one was home at the time of the fire but a dog was located near the outside of the house, the fire department said. Firefighters got the dog to safety and brought the fire under control.
Information about how long it took to extinguish the fire was not available.
There was no word about where the fire started, or the cause of the fire, but it is under investigation.
