Search ends for missing South Carolina man who hadn’t been seen for days, sheriff says
The search for a missing South Carolina man who was last seen at a motel has ended.
Daniel Westbury Jr. was found and is safe, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon. Information about when and where the missing man was found was not available.
Westbury was publicly reported missing by the sheriff’s office Wednesday. The 52-year-old Harleyville resident had not been seen for five days, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
On Tuesday, Westbury’s family reported him missing to the sheriff’s office.
Family members said they dropped Westbury off at the Crown Inn on Bamberg Road on March 21, according to the release. Westbury was last seen by a motel employee on March 22, the sheriff’s office said.
There was no word if Westbury was alone when he was last seen. The sheriff’s department did not say if foul play was suspected in Westbury’s disappearance.
