A Camden High School student died in a Columbia-area hospital Thursday after being involved in a car accident Monday.

Robert “Drew” Edmond David IV, 17, was involved in a single-car accident on Sunnyhill Drive near Camden at 9 p.m. Monday. David was airlifted from the accident to a Columbia hospital where he was placed on life support, Kershaw County School District spokesperson Mary-Anne Byrd said. David died at 1 a.m. Thursday.

Byrd said David was an organ donor and several people are scheduled to receive transplants.

“We know his legacy will live on,” Byrd said of David, who was a rising senior and a member of the baseball and football teams at Camden High.

Counselors will be available for students when they return to school, Byrd said.
