A Columbia radio station, known for broadcasting Atlanta Braves games, has gone silent, according to licensing documents from the Federal Communications Commission.

ESPN 1320 AM went silent on March 26. The sports station is the only one in Columbia that airs Braves games, with the next closest affiliate station being in the Camden-Lugoff area.

Radio License Holding CBC, LLC, the group that owns the station, wrote in its request to the FCC that it was requesting “authority to discontinue operations.” Radio License Holding CBC, LLC is owned by Cumulus Media, an audio company that operates 400 radio stations and has more than 9,500 affiliated stations.

“RLH-CBC in is the process of deciding whether to change the format or sell the station,” the company wrote to the FCC.

ESPN 1320 AM and Cumulus Media did not immediately respond to The State’s request for comment.
