Search ends for missing teen that Richland County sheriff said was in danger

The search for a missing South Carolina teenager who was considered to be in danger is over.

Daviyon Thames was safely located, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday morning. Information about where and when the 16-year-old was found was not available.

Thames publicly reported missing by the sheriff’s department Monday. Thames had not been seen for days, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Thames was last seen April 12 at about 6 p.m., according to the release. He was at his home on Setter Lane, the sheriff’s department said. That’s in the Hopkins area, between Garners Ferry Road and Leesburg Road.

There was no word if Thames was considered a runaway, or if he was alone when last seen. The sheriff’s department did not say if foul play was suspected in Thames’ disappearance.

The sheriff’s department said that Thames was considered to be in danger because of a learning disability as well as remarks that he made concerning his own safety.
