A school bus from Lexington District 2 crashed on 1-77 while carrying about 35 students, according to district officials.

The bus, along with two others, were traveling south on I-77 following a field trip near Charlotte, a news release said. A tire blew on the bus causing it to crash and flip over while transporting students and three adults from Pine Ridge Middle School. The two other buses were not involved in the accident, according to the release.

The accident occurred in Chester County at mile marker 54. All lanes were blocked.

As of Thursday afternoon, emergency medical services were on scene evaluating passengers on the bus. While the district has not yet disclosed whether anyone was injured, it said that some students are “being transported for further evaluation.”
