Boil water advisory issued for Irmo assisted living facility

istockphoto.com

A broken 8-inch water main prompted City of Columbia Water Works officials to issue a boil water advisory Friday night for all the customers living at the Agape Senior Assisted Living Facility at 990 Columbia Ave. in Irmo.

The broken water main may have allowed bacterial contamination to get into the facility’s water supply. All water used for drinking, food preparation and or making ice should be boiled vigorously for at least 60 seconds before use.

These precautions should be taken not only by anyone at the Agape facility but also anyone near the area who experienced either a loss of or drop in water pressure.

Any concerns about the advisory’s impact on the assisted living facility were to be directed to the SC DHEC Division of Health Licensing at 1-803-545- 4370.
