Busy road blocked as crews battle fire in Lexington County, officials say

Multiple lanes of a busy South Carolina road were blocked Tuesday morning as emergency responders battled a fire, Lexington County officials said.

A commercial structure fire was reported in the 5300 block of U.S. 321, according to the Gaston Police Department. That’s where Morales Muffler Shop is located. The fire was contained to the business, Lexington County officials told The State.

Police along with members of the Cayce Fire Department and West Columbia Fire Department as well as Lexington EMS responded to the scene, Lexington County officials said at about 10:15 a.m.

Information about the cause of the fire, and where it started was not available, but it under investigation, Lexington County officials said.

No injuries have been reported.

As emergency crews responded to the scene, multiple lanes of U.S. 321 were temporarily closed, according to police.

Information about how long it will take to extinguish the fire and reopen all lanes of the road was not available.

“We ask drivers to be patient and to find alternate routes if possible,” Lexington County officials said.
