2 found dead of gunshot wounds, SC Midlands sheriff’s office says

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after two people were found shot to death in a home Sunday afternoon.

The two people were found on Crystal Lane in Lee County, the sheriff’s office said. The home is located off Gum Springs Road about five miles west of Bishopville.

The deceased are not being identified pending notification of their family members, the sheriff’s office said. The office said “there is no immediate threat to the surrounding public.

Authorities told WIS that the deceased include a man and a woman. Sheriff Daniel Simon told the TV station the shooting was a murder-suicide involving a couple. The State Law Enforcement Division and the Lee County Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
