West Columbia gets new restaurant promising ‘Thai Delicacies’
Those who find themselves west of the Congaree River have another place to go when they’re craving Thai food.
Thai Delicacies opened Monday at 1213 Sunset Blvd. in West Columbia, according to a video posted to the new restaurant’s website. The eatery takes over a spot in a small shopping center near the intersection of Sunset and 12th Street that was previously home to Olde Country Buffet, which closed after a brief run in 2023, and JackSon’s Southern Kitchen before that.
The menu features a variety of options, including Thai entrees spanning noodles, stir fry, curry, soups and salads, along with precut fruits, desserts, boba tea and raw, fried and seared sushi options. Appetizers listed include crab rangoon, egg rolls and chicken and pork skewers.
The new restaurant adds to the healthy supply of Thai options in Cayce and West Columbia. Longtime local favorite Mai Thai sits less than two miles down Sunset Boulevard, while Cayce is home to Duke’s Pad Thai, and the Thai and Vietnamese restaurant Golden Chopstix rests right along the border between the two cities.
Thai Delicacies is on a busy part of Sunset Boulevard. Roughly 22,900 cars travel along the stretch near Thai Delicacies each day, according to state Department of Transportation data.
Hours posted to Google have the new spot being open 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.
