Cayce police officer charged for ‘engaging in sexual acts’ in cop car on duty
A police officer in Cayce was arrested and charged with misconduct in office after allegedly ‘engaging in sexual acts’ in a cop car while on duty.
Michael Joseph Timo, 34, was arrested and charged Wednesday by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division after an investigation requested by the city’s police department revealed he had engaged in sexual acts with a woman while on duty, in his police uniform and parked outside of the Cayce Tennis Court Complex at the end of March, according to the arrest warrant.
The Cayce Police Department received an external complaint about Timo, city spokesperson Ashley Hunter said.
“Given the seriousness of the allegation, Cayce Police Chief Bruce Wade immediately referred the matter to SLED for an independent and thorough investigation,” Hunter said.
Timo was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center, according to a press release from SLED. A spokesperson for Cayce confirmed Timo was no longer with the department. He’d been with Cayce since October 2022, Hunter said, and was employed as a patrol officer, according to the city’s website.
