New restaurant in West Columbia offers Latin flavors along this bustling road
A new spot for Latin flavors has made its debut in the Midlands.
Mi Tierra De Maiz Restaurante Guatemalteco & Mexicano Latin Grill opened last week at 1505 Charleston Hwy. in West Columbia at the Granby Village shopping center. The new Latin eatery is a couple doors down from the Golden Chopstix Asian restaurant and other shops such as The Mail Room and Barbara Jane’s Boutique.
The new restaurant offers an extensive Guatemalan menu, including carne guisada, which is beef with tomato sauce, potatoes and carrots, with rice and Russian salad. They also have an extensive Mexican menu that includes tacos, nachos, fajitas, quesadillas, chilaquiles, sizzling fajitas and more.
This reporter stopped by the restaurant on Wednesday and ordered three carne asada tacos, which come on corn or flour tortillas, with onions and cilantro, and are served with rice and beans on the side.
And don’t worry, parents. Mi Tierra De Maiz has got the youngsters taken care of, as well, with a kids menu that includes chicken fingers, cheese sticks and even a cheese pizza.
Mi Tierra De Maiz is located along a high-traffic roadway in West Columbia, northeast of Interstate 26. About 24,000 cars per day traverse that section of the Charleston Highway, per data from the state Department of Transportation.
