A major national chain known for its burgers and breakfast biscuits is building a new location in Lexington County.

Hardee’s, which has restaurants across the U.S., is building a new spot at 8027 Edmund Hwy. in Pelion. That’s just south of Forts Pond Elementary School and just east of Pelion Middle School.

A sign at the property announces that a Hardee’s is “coming soon” and that the forthcoming location is hiring. Those interested in a job can apply at bnecareers.com.

An opening date for the Pelion Hardee’s hasn’t been announced, but construction on the building was well underway when a reporter rode by on Monday morning. The Hardee’s plans in Pelion have been listed among the commercial projects in Lexington County Planning Commission documents in recent months.

There are more than 1,500 Hardee’s locations across the U.S., according to data site ScrapeHero. The company has long had a strong presence in the Midlands, with nearly a dozen locations in the area, according to a store locator tool on the company’s website.

While it offers a burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fries and more, Hardee’s is perhaps best known in the South for its breakfast offerings, including a number of biscuit sandwiches.
