A new Asian restaurant is set to be the latest tenant of a quickly growing shopping center near northeast Columbia.

Sola Ramen & Sushi plans to open at 185 Earth Road suite H in Elgin in the Market at Spears Creek shopping center that is anchored by a new Publix supermarket. There is a banner hanging at Sola noting that the restaurant is “coming soon” and a notice on the door says that the business is now hiring.

The sushi and ramen spot also has announced on its Facebook page that it is hiring, and recently posted a video of what the inside of the restaurant will look like.

Menus posted on Sola’s Facebook page include dozens of various sushi rolls, including the Godzilla roll with spicy tuna and avocado and the Philadelphia Maki roll with smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and scallions. The eatery will also have an extensive menu of ramen noodle dishes, including the currry ramen that comes with chicken broth, bean sprouts, thick noodles, corn, fried onion, chicken, green onions, nori seaweed and egg.

The Market at Spears Creek shopping center has become a bustling hub at the intersection of Spears Creek Church and Earth roads, not far from the Woodcreek Farms subdivision. The aforementioned Publix grocery store opened there at the end of April, and was followed quickly by new Wingstop and Little Caesars restaurant locations. A Palmetto Trading liquor store and a Blanc Nails Lounge also have opened at the shopping complex, and a Parker’s Kitchen gas station and convenience store is planned nearby at 191 Earth Road.

It’s an increasingly busy area in Elgin, with more than 10,000 cars per day traveling down that stretch of Spears Creek Church Road, according to state Department of Transportation statistics.
