Plans are developing to reopen a multi-faceted golf business near Lake Murray.

The Lake Murray Golf Center, located at 2032 Old Hilton Road in Chapin, is under new ownership, according to a Thursday release from DeWees Real Estate Group. The realty firm represented the Guerry Family Trust, the sellers of the 33-acre property. It has been purchased by CB Bros Holdings LLC and Benjamin Hooker, according to DeWees.

Hooker, a Chapin Native, is the owner of Lexington’s BOHO Pizza and Brew, which opened in 2023 on Augusta Highway near Lexington High School.

The Lake Murray Golf Center has been closed since November 2021, according to posts on social media. The new buyers are planning to reopen the facility, the first phase of which will include opening the driving range and the “shack” which will have limited food and beverages, the release said.

The second phase will see the reopening of the 9-hole par 3 course and the 18-hole mini-golf course, DeWees said. And the third phase would “include the development of a full-service restaurant that will offer great food, live music, and community-focused events,” according to the release.

The facility will initially reopen under the Lake Murray Golf Center name, the release said, but a full rebrand with a new name and logo is planned for later. An opening date for the rekindled golf center was not listed in the release.

“We are so thrilled about the re-opening of the Lake Murray Golf Center and know that this is something the community is really going to get excited about,” said DeWees Real Estate Group broker-in-charge Sam DeWees said in a statement.
