This Lexington Lizard’s Thicket has reopened after a monthslong renovation
This is not a drill, Lexington. You’ve got your Lizard’s Thicket near downtown back.
The Lizard’s Thicket at 621 W. Main St. in Lexington, near the county’s auxilary administration building, reopened on Friday morning after a monthslong closure in which the restaurant was extensively remodeled inside and out.
“Y’all come!” the restaurant exclaimed on its Facebook page, using the company’s longtime slogan as a siren call beckoning diners back to the location along a busy town thoroughfare.
The W. Main Street Lizard’s Thicket closed on March 17, with company officials saying at the time that it was planning upgrades for the 30-year-old building. The location got new kitchen equipment, new ADA-compliant bathrooms, and extensive aesthetic updates to the dining room and exterior.
Lizard’s Thicket has been a favorite in the Midlands for 47 years, and is known for its meat-and-three lunches and dinners, highlighted by fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, cornbread dressing and more. The regional chain also serves breakfast. There are 13 Lizard’s Thicket locations across the Midlands area.
The spot at 621 W. Main St. sits along a high-traffic corridor lined with restaurants, stores and other businesses. About 40,000 cars per day travel down that section of West Main, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
