Flies everywhere. Food stored on floor. Upstate restaurants with worst inspections in July
South Carolina health inspectors found multiple violations at restaurants in the Upstate in July, from flies in kitchens to one restaurant needing to temporarily shut down. The state each month releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Upstate counties.
Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in July.
Fazoli’s at 3091 Liberty Hwy in Anderson
Fazoli’s had an inspection on July 1 and got a C grade.
The restaurant voluntarily closed due to a lack of refrigeration.
An inspector observed cases of food stored on the floor with obvious contamination due to the amount of standing water in the facility.
One of the hand sinks was seen used as a dump sink. Bread that was supposed to be stored frozen was seen stored at room temperature and had black residue on it. Dishes with food debris were seen stored as clean.
Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Walk-in cooler was found to be malfunctioning for weeks. A leak was found under a sink and under the dish machine. An accumulation of standing water and food debris was found under equipment.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on July 19 and got an A grade.
Logan’s Roadhouse at 3402 Clemson Blvd. in Anderson
Logan’s Roadhouse had an inspection on July 14 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed raw and cooked products in random places not relevant to food storage or production.
One kitchen sink was seen blocked by utensils while another was not advised for use due to a leak. Multiple cutting boards were seen unclean to sight and touch. The ice machine was seen unclean to sight and touch. A buildup of debris and food splatter was seen inside the microwave.
Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Containers of chili were seen not allowed to cool properly. Surfaces of storage racks and shelves were not clean to sight or touch.
The restaurant had a required followup inspection on July 21 and got an A grade.
Blockhouse Restaurant at 1619 Augusta Road in Greenville
Blockhouse Restaurant had an inspection on July 22 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed flies in the sink areas of the kitchen and fruit flies in the dish machine area.
Food was seen stored on the floor of the walk-in freezer. Soiled items were seen stored as clean. The can opener blade was seen encrusted with food debris and grime.
Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.
The restaurant has had two required followup inspections on July 25 and July 31 and again got C grades. A third followup inspection has not yet been held.
Epic Buffet of East Bank at 3940 Grandview Drive in Greenville
Epic Buffet had an inspection on July 29 and got a C grade.
An inspector observed multiple open sauce buckets on the floor in front of the cook line. Also observed frozen chicken in a bus tub on the floor of the walk-in freezer.
Certain foods were seen not kept at proper cold holding temperatures. The back door was seen with gaps at the bottom and with broken screens. Leaking pipes were seen under the prep sink.
A required followup inspection has not yet been held.
