A new downtown Columbia Chick-fil-A has opened its doors. Here’s where
A new Chick-fil-A has made its debut in downtown Columbia, just steps from where the University of South Carolina plays basketball.
The ever-popular chicken sandwich chain, which has locations across the Midlands and the U.S., has a new restaurant at the Gateway 737 student housing development on Gadsden Street, right beside the Colonial Life Arena. The Chick-fil-A is on the ground floor of the tower, and faces out to Gadsden Street.
The Midlands’ newest Chick-fil-A was busy when a reporter stopped by for lunch on Thursday, as students and downtown workers lined up for chicken sandwiches, iced tea, nuggets and more.
Gateway 737 is the latest student living tower in Columbia, with more than 900 beds across the 650,000-square-foot facility. Other businesses, including a Knowledge Perk coffee shop and Roxanne’s Market, are slated for the complex.
While the new Chick-fil-A at Gateway 737 will undoubtedly draw student diners and nearby residents and workers, it will likely also prove a popular draw on basketball gamedays when USC’s men’s and women’s teams are playing, as well as when concerts and other events happen at the arena. The restaurant is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to hours posted on the door.
There are more than a dozen Chick-fil-A locations in the Columbia and Lexington area.
