Lexington burrito restaurant on hiatus as the business is for sale. What we know
A fresh Mex restaurant in a busy part of Lexington is closed for the moment and the business is for sale.
The Diablo’s Southwest Grill location at 5541 Sunset Blvd announced recently on social media that it’s “taking a well-needed break” and is seeking a buyer for the business. The Lexington spot is a franchise location of a chain that has locations across South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Diablo’s offers a number of Mexican and Southwestern dishes, including quesadillas, burritos, nachos and more.
The Lexington location first opened on Sunset Boulevard in 2020.
In an Aug. 12 Facebook post, the Lexington Diablo’s expressed its “heartfelt gratitude” for its customers the last five years. It also sought potential buyers for the business.
“While we are pushing the reset button, restructuring our staff and conducting preventive maintenance, we want to announce that we are selling our restaurant, offering YOU a chance to be part of a well-established franchise and to continue serving our wonderful community,” the social media post said.
The post said that Aug. 13 would be the “‘last call’ until YOU re-open” the restaurant. The eatery was closed Monday when a reporter stopped by during what would have been normal operating hours. There was a note on the door thanking customers and directing them to the Diablo’s Facebook page for further updates.
The restaurant said on social media that those who might be interested in taking over the business can direct message them through the Diablo’s Southwest Grill of Lexington Facebook page with inquiries.
Diablo’s in Lexington is in the midst of a high-traffic retail corridor along Sunset Boulevard. Nearby businesses include a Walmart, a Chick-fil-A, a Starbucks and many other retailers. About 35,000 cars per day travel down that stretch of Sunset Boulevard, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
