If you’re looking for a free cup of coffee, Scout Motors, the electric vehicle manufacturer set for Blythewood, will give out 4,000 cups of free coffee around Columbia Friday.

Participating coffee shops include:

  • Both locations of Curiosity Coffee: the original location at 2327 Main St. in Columbia and the new-ish location inside of the Richland Main Library
  • Both locations of Piecewise Coffee: 2001 State St. in Cayce and 2824 Devine St. in Columbia
  • Azalea Coffee Bar at 2700 Devine St. in Columbia
  • Bloomin Bean Coffee Bar at 412 McNulty St. in Blythewood

The company, which announced plans in March 2023 to bring 4,000 jobs to the Midlands when it opens its electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Blythewood, will give out the free coffee, wrapped in a Scout-branded coffee sleeves, as a part of “Have a Great Day” marketing campaign. The campaign includes an ad featuring Midlands residents and local spots like The Nickelodeon theater and area high schools.

“This ad captures the vibrant spirit that drew Scout Motors to Blythewood: community, neighborliness, respect and ambition,” Ryan Decker, the vice president of Strategy and Brand at Scout, said in a release.

The free coffee offer is limited to one cup per customer, while supplies last, and no purchases are necessary.
