A national shoe store company is prepping a new space in a popular Midlands mall.

Tradehome Shoes, which has stores across numerous states, will open a new location in the Columbiana Centre mall. Building permits were issued for the project, according to city of Columbia paperwork, and Tradehome is listed as “coming soon” in the shop directory on Columbiana Centre’s website.

The new shoe store will be located on the northern end of the mall, near a Starbucks coffee shop and the Altar’d State clothing store. There is a banner hanging in the window of the in-development shop noting that Tradehome is “coming soon” and touting shoe brands that will be featured in the store, including Birkenstock, Hoka and Rival.

Tradehome Shoes started in 1921 with two stores, and it had 130 stores across the U.S. as of 2024, according to the company’s website. Brands the company carries include Nike, New Balance, Adidas, On, Oofos, Reef, Timberland and Steve Madden, among a number of others.

The Columbiana Centre just off Interstate 26, northwest of downtown Columbia, has continued to be a popular mall, filled with a host of national and niche retailers including Belk, Barnes & Noble, Hollister, Chick-fil-A, Victoria’s Secret, Lids and many others. It’s located in the larger Harbison shopping district that has long been an enduring retail hub for the Midlands, with scores of shops, restaurants, big-box stores, movie theaters, hotels and more amenities.
