A new Mexican restaurant has opened in the heart of downtown Columbia.

Que! Bueno Mexican Bar & Grill, which has several locations in the Midlands, debuted a new location Tuesday at 1467 Sumter St., in the Main Street District. The Mexican restaurant is in a spot that formerly was home to a Pizza Hut, right next door to Greek Boys.

“Columbia, the wait is over — grab your friends and family and come experience authentic flavors, fresh cocktails, and a fiesta on Sumter Street!,” Que! Bueno said in a Facebook post.

A reporter stopped by the new Sumter Street spot on Tuesday afternoon and enjoyed a plate of steak nachos. The menu at Que! Bueno includes a host of tacos, burritos, lunch combos, nachos, quesadillas and more. The business also has a full bar with beer and cocktails.

There are several Que! Bueno restaurant locations across the Midlands, including one on Broad River Road in Irmo, one on Devine Street in Columbia, and one on N. Lake Drive in Lexington.

The new Mexican restaurant on Sumter Street adds to the vibrant tapestry of downtown’s Main Street District, which features a number of bars, restaurants, hotels, apartments, boutique shops, the Nickelodeon Theater, the Columbia Museum of Art and more.
