One dead in Richland County after truck collides with lawnmower

A person has died after a truck collided with a riding lawnmower in Richland County.

The S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett said the crash happened at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday on Sloan Road near the intersection with Dorichlee Lane.

The Highway Patrol said a 2015 Dodge Ram truck was traveling east on Sloan Road, as was a person on a zero-turn riding lawnmower. The truck reportedly struck the mower near the intersection with Dorichlee Lane.

The mower rider was taken to Prisma Health Richland, where they died from their injuries. The Richland County Coroner’s Office had not publicly identified the deceased as of Sunday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation.
