A brewery in a key Columbia district has closed its doors as the franchise has shuttered all of its locations across a number of states.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, located at 945 Sabal St. in the BullStreet District, is closed, according to letters posted on its doors when a reporter went by Thursday morning. The letters indicated all of the company’s outposts have bid farewell.

“To our valued guests, after many wonderful years serving our communities, this location, along with our 15 other locations, has closed,” the letter on the Columbia Iron Hill doors read. “It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your support, friendship, and loyalty over the years.”

The letter went on to say that the company “hopes to return in the future.”

Iron Hill had 16 locations across five states before the recent closure. The Columbia location opened in June 2023 in an attractive building that seats 400 people and fronts busy Bull Street. Iron Hill was founded in 1996, and was known for brewing its own beer on-site at the various locations. As for food, it offered pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and more.

The Iron Hill exit comes just as the BullStreet District is seeing increased activity. For instance, construction is well underway on the Gather COLA food hall at the district, which will house 10 food and restaurant vendors, two bars and more. And there is a Coast Crust pizza location under construction next door to where the food hall will be.
