A popular national spot for coffee, doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches and more is temporarily shuttered in Lexington.

The Dunkin’ location at 1120 W. Main St., right at the convergence of U.S. 378 and Hwy. 1, is closed for renovations. It is listed as “temporarily closed” on Google and on the Dunkin’ website. The project also is listed in the “tenant upfits and renovations” section of the town of Lexington’s most recent planning and zoning actions report.

A reopening date for the Dunkin’ location hasn’t been publicly announced. Construction work was ongoing when a reporter rode by on Friday morning.

The Dunkin’ at 1120 W. Main St. is in a high-traffic area east of Lexington High School and across the street from Jim Hudson Ford. More than 40,000 cars per day travel down that section of W. Main St., per state Department of Transportation statistics, easily making it one of the busiest non-interstate roadways in the Midlands.

Known for its various flavors of coffee and numerous styles of doughnuts and Munchkin doughnut holes, Dunkin’ is ubiquitous on the American food landscape. There are nearly 10,000 locations across the U.S., per data website ScrapeHero.
