Historic Skyline Club near Columbia airport announces reopening. Here’s when
A popular West Columbia club that was long known for country music and line dancing is getting set to reopen its doors.
The Skyline Club, located at 100 Lee St., will reopen on Nov. 1, according to posts from the club on Facebook. The opening will be marked with a performance from Lexington country-rock band Civil Remedy, which is well known for playing gigs across the region.
“They’re ready to bring the energy, fill the dance floor, and truly make it a night to remember,” The Skyline Club said on social media of the reopening night band.
The Wednesday social media message from the Skyline Club noted that one of the singers for Civil Remedy, Amber McLeod, is the daughter of Skyline Club founder Janice Gulbis Gardner, who died in 2017, and that McLeod’s performance on Nov. 1 would be a “full-circle moment” at the club.
The Skyline Club has been closed since late 2023. Earlier this year, new owner Angie Cook purchased the property and announced it would be reopened as a country music and line dancing spot. The 14,000-square-foot club is located not far from Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
The Facebook post announcing the Nov. 1 planned reopening of the Skyline Club drew a big response, garnering nearly 900 reactions, more than 150 comments and more than 220 shares as of Thursday morning.
