A Columbia-area doughnut shop is set to close its doors. Here’s what we know
A doughnut shop in Lugoff plans to close its doors after about a year in business.
The Dear Donut, located at 728 Dewitt Drive unit E, announced in Monday morning social media posts that it will close next month. The last day will be Nov. 15, the posts said, though the restaurant noted it may run out of certain items before then.
The posts said the doughnut shop’s owners are looking to slow down and spend more time with family.
“This decision isn’t due to financial reasons and no, Dunkin’ did not run us out of business!” The Dear Donut noted on Facebook. “We’ve truly gotten everything we hoped for out of this experience: connecting with our community, being involved locally, and having the incredible opportunity to run our own small business.”
The Dear Donut opened in Lugoff on Nov. 30, 2024. The space on Dewitt Drive had previously been home to Mondo Donuts. The Dear Donut menu has included a variety of doughnuts, including cinnamon sugar, glazed, cotton candy, maple bacon, s’mores and many others.
In its Monday Facebook post about the coming closure, The Dear Donut noted that anyone interested in taking over the shop space could contact them via direct message.
“Thank you all so much for the love, support, and donut memories,” the shop posted. “This community means the world to us.”
