Midlands authorities investigating deadly hit-and-run on a busy SC road

A Midlands man is dead after what is being described by authorities as a hit-and-run incident.

Kershaw County Coroner David West said in a release that dispatchers received a call at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday that a person had been hit by a vehicle in the 1000 block of W. Dekalb St. in Camden, near a Wendy’s restaurant.

The vehicle reportedly left the scene, per the release.

West said the deceased is 57-year-old Joseph Hudson, of the Camden area. He died at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. Those who may have seen anything related to the case are encouraged to call Camden police at 803-425-6025 during daytime hours or 803-425-6035 after hours.
