A bridge in Lexington County will be closed for repairs. Here’s when.
A bridge on a rural road in Lexington County will be closed for a few weeks for maintenance, the state’s transportation department announced Monday.
The bridge on Ray Price Road in Batesburg-Leesville will be closed starting Nov. 17 until December. The small road runs between U.S. Hwy 1/Augusta Road and U.S. Hwy 378 to the southwest of Lake Murray.
While the road is closed, drivers will be rerouted using Paul Hite Road and State Road S-32-54, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation. Ray Price Road, except for the bridge, will only be open to local traffic, SC DOT said.
The repairs will be made to the bridge’s piles, a spokesperson told The State. The piles are a support structure underneath the bridge used to hold it up. It’s unclear when the last time maintenance was done on the bridge.
